Women in Business Telling Stories for Women in Business

Exploring Ideas, Sharing Insights

The world of sales often gets a reputation of being cut throat, and one might think that the real estate world wouldn’t be any different, but we have seen quite the opposite.

My team and I (Beth Ann) recently wrote and produced a commercial for a real estate client who is also my friend. Another female real estate agent and friend shared her beautiful home with us for part of the commercial shoot. Women in leadership helping each other! Collaboration not competition. It was an incredible day!

Other than shooting outside in the Alabama summer heat, the commercial shoot for Wendy Patterson was an incredible day. Wendy had reached out to our team a few weeks prior asking for a quick commercial turnaround, so she could be the first real estate agent in our area to run her ad at the newly opened Lucas Cinemas in Albertville, Alabama. We were able to shuffle some projects around to squeeze her project into our workflow, so we were happy to oblige.

When you hear Wendy’s story of her transition from being employed for 17 years for the most successful real estate attorney in Marshall County to becoming an award winning realtor and associate broker at Main Street Realty Plus, you can’t help but want to be a part of telling her story. That’s just what we had the privilege of doing. Wendy had some idea of what she wanted to convey, but she wanted our team to flesh out the story and write the script for the commercial.

“I just want to convey that I’m a one-stop realtor,” said Wendy. “Show me ‘fancy’ showing a high-end property, and show me ‘working’ out in a field showing land and/or commercial property. I love working with investors, so it would be great if we could show that as well.”

We were up for the challenge. With Wendy’s unique background in the real estate market and her bubbly and friendly personality in mind, we wrote a 30-second commercial script, storyboard, and shot list for her review.

FROM COMMERCIAL TO INVESTMENT PROPERTIES AND FROM RESIDENTIAL TO DREAM HOMES, I WANT TO GUIDE YOU THROUGH THE BUYING AND SELLING PROCESS. I’M WENDY PATTERSON WITH MAIN STREET REALTY , AND I LOOK FORWARD TO HELPING YOU SAY, IT WAS SOLD BY WENDY.

She approved the script without revision, so we moved to scoping out the scenes for the shoot.

Wendy secured the availability of each of the locations for shoot day, and we met about a week before to walk through the scenes. We discussed “the extras” for the shoot, and Wendy confirmed that she had those lined up as well. With all the details in place, we created a timeline for the shoot day to finish up the preparation.

While she was nervous about being on camera, Wendy proved to be a natural in each shot and during her voiceover work. This made our team’s editing tasks fairly easy, so we had a proof of the commercial for her to review in a shorter than normal timeframe.

In the end, Wendy was elated with the results. “I’m always here to serve you, and I’m excited about my first ever commercial,” said Wendy. “Thank you, Beth Ann, for producing and directing. I’m so proud of the job you did.”

We can’t wait for you to see the commercial, so you will want to say, “It was sold by Wendy!”
